Ratio Breathing as a Rescue Technique
Ratio Breathing can be learned easily and is an ideal tool to have up your sleeve any time you start to feel anxious The ratio breathing I use is breath in for 3 or 4 seconds then out for 6 or 8. Whatever is most comfortable for you.....just try to make the out breath about twice as long as the in breath. Breathing out naturally helps us to relax, by focusing on a long conscious out breath tension is released along with the breath.
